Tangshan Institute for Cancer Research (TICR)was established in 1992, which is affiliated with Tangshan People’s Hospital (Tangshan Cancer Hospital). The director of TICR is Li Jingwu, the executive deputy director is Li Yufeng, and the deputy directors are Liu Yuanting, Yang Junquan and Liu Yankun. Since 2021, there have been 9 research directions of TICR: medical oncology, surgical oncology, integrated Chinese and western medicine cancer, tumor biomarkers, tumor molecular pathology, tumor artificial intelligence, tumor epigenetic, tumor immunity and translational medicine. These research directions are covering basic cancer research, clinical research, and translational medicine research which promotes bidirectional transformation of foundation medicine and clinical medicine.

The research of foundation medicine from TICR is being carried out in Central laboratory of Tangshan People’s Hospital, and the clinical medicine research is being carried out in different clinical departments, which can improve clinical teaching, scientific research and international academic exchanges of Tangshan People’s Hospital.

Within 32 years, TICR devotes major efforts to improve the health care for cancer patients. TICR spent more than 10 million RMB on extra 100 sets of international scientific research instruments, which provides a high quality scientific research platform for medical staffs and students. Tangshan People’s Hospital makes efforts to cultivate and introduce talents of oncology basic research, and prestigious universities at home and abroad. There have been a number of Doctors of medicine and clinicians got advanced education.

Under the leadership of the Tangshan People’s Hospital Party Committee, the staffs from TICR will continue to make great efforts to explore the molecular mechanism of tumor development and drug resistance, and develop new biomarkers and new methods for early diagnosis, prognosis and comprehensive prevention and treatment of cancer, which provide more precise diagnosis and treatment strategies for cancer patients.
